SoulCare Sunday: The Power of Pause

Reset Your Mind Before the Week Begins

Welcome to the first post of my Soulcare Sunday series — a weekly moment to breathe, reset, and realign with your highest self. This week we are highlighting the importance of slowing down. Life moves fast—work, kids, goals, expectations, emotions, and everything in between. But one of the most powerful tools we have for wellness is also the simplest: the pause or as some would say “sitting down somewhere”!

In a world that pushes us to constantly “do,” SoulCare Sunday invites you to slow down and reconnect with yourself. The pause is where clarity forms, creativity returns, and your nervous system can finally breathe.

Why Pausing Matters

Taking intentional pauses helps you:

  • Reduce stress and mental overload

  • Improve focus and emotional regulation

  • Enter the week grounded instead of scattered

  • Reconnect with your goals and values

  • Strengthen self-awareness + intuition

When you stop rushing, you can actually hear yourself again.

Simple Ways to Reset Before the Week

Try one or two of these today :

1. Five-Minute Stillness

Sit quietly. No music. No phone. Just breathe. Actually, focus on your breath and gently re-guide yourself back when your thoughts take over. Its that simple, LOL. Meditating is easier said than done, its a skill that must be practiced, like any other thing. The more you practice, the easier it becomes. That’s when you get the experience the benefits. I promise the patience it takes to meditate are worth it! Its something I cant explain… you just gotta try!

Start by letting your thoughts float without trying to control them. Think clouds on a summer day…. With a gentle breeze and clear skies… Uggh… I think I’m missing summer! LOL

2. Journal Your Reset

Its no secret journaling is on the list! It is a built-in therapeutic tool that can bring awareness and clarity to so much. If you don’t prefer writing you can journal in your notes app. Any healthy way you decide to process your feelings, I encourage you to do it!

Take a few moments to process a few of these prompts (even if you don’t write it down):

  • What drained me last week?

  • What filled me up?

  • What do I want to feel this week?

Checking in with yourself reminds you to honor your voice. Pour into yourself! Only you know what you truly need.

3. Digital Declutter

Close out open tabs. Clean your camera roll. Unfollow accounts that don’t serve you. Dare I say it, deactivate that social media account, I promise it won’t kill you! A clear digital space = a calmer mind. You don’t owe anyone access to you just because you have a social media account. Do what’s needed to protect your peace!

4. Create a “Don’t Do” List

If you are anything like me, you have “to-do” list written and found in the most random places! To-do list have been helpful for me- I’m definitely a “write it down and make a list” kind of girl. Which is why I know this could be helpful. A “DONT DO” list. Instead of adding more to your plate, decide what you’re releasing this week:

  • No overextending yourself

  • No procrastinating

  • No shrinking

  • No saying yes from guilt

  • No ignoring your needs

This protects your peace and if you haven’t realized, that’s all I’m about- Protecting MY Peace!

5. Set One Soul Goal

Not a productivity goal—a soul goal. Its a goal that comes from the deepest, most authentic part of you-not from pressure, or comparison, or what you think you should be doing. Its a goal more aligned with who you truly are and who your becoming.

Soul Goals sound like:

  • “This week, I want to follow through on my plans”

  • “This week, I honor my boundaries.”

  • “This week, I lead with confidence.”

  • “This week, I will hold myself accountable for….”

A soul goal centers you no matter what the week brings. It comes from a place of alignment, not urgency. Be gentle with yourself.

Remember…

It’s in the pause that clarity lands.

It’s in the pause that you hear what you’ve been ignoring.

It’s in the pause that you reset before stepping into a new week.

Pausing reconnects you to YOU. Everything you want—peace, productivity, creativity—flows better from presence.

This week, give yourself permission to pause.

Your glow grows in the quiet, the moments where you choose yourself again.
